
ANGI BONES did not follow the path of her parents. The daughter of an educator and a lawyer, Angi took on Law Enforcement as her career of choice. However, while waiting for LAPD Police Academy final testing, Angi took an unpaid position as a set production assistant on the film “Panther” directed by Mario Van Peebles. Working on the film “Panther” shifted her journey in life from law enforcement to a successful career in film, television and video where she started as a Production Assistant that lead to Extra’s Casting Director, Assistant Director, Producer and Director.
To her credit, Angi hosts an impressive resume of music videos, commercials, award shows, television series and more than 50 films; most notably: The Negotiator, Blade, Too Wong Foo, Eve’s Bayou, Fighting Temptations, Men of Honor, Mother, The Antoine Fisher Story, Training Day, Motives I, The Gospel, Warm Springs, Stroke of Genius, Crazy in Alabama, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Family Reunion, Daddy’s Little Girls, Why Did I Get Married, House of Payne and is the Co-Producer of the hit cable sitcom Meet The Browns. Angi is an active member of the Director’s Guild of America. She is also a member of Women in Film & Television Atlanta where she serves on the advisory board.
Based on her production experience she has completed a manuscript entitled “The Production Assistants Hand Manual”, to be published late 2010.
In addition to her writings, Angi along with business partner, Dianne Ashford created Symmetry Entertainment in 2003. Symmetry is an Atlanta based full service Film and Video production company, soon be on the Hollywood A list of up and coming powers in the in the world of filmmaking. Angi and Dianne produced their first film together entitled Trois, The Escort, which was released to DVD in 2005 and their second film Motives II which was released to DVD 2006.
Angi creatively developed, produced and directed the documentary film about migrant death along the US border entitled Season of Death in 2006 . Angi has also directed for ad agency elites such as J. Walter Thompson, a short industrial for “The Atlanta Union Mission”. Directing these type of project keeps Angi in line with her goals, which is to give back creatively from the heart to the community through film and television that will send a message of family, faith, forgiveness and love.
Hard work, dedication and perseverance have served as a staple within her life and career, as well as the fact that she is a dedicated mother of three young men. Angi has set many goals and has accomplished most. The others are yet to be revealed, as she wants to leave this world as a legend in the world of film making and not just a memory.
